The unfortunate injury to CM Punk left WWE TLC 2012 without a WWE Championship match. This will be the first PPV without the WWE Championship up for grabs in recent memory and will serve as a platform for new blood to rise to the top of the card.
That new blood comes in the form of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns who are known as “The Shield.”
I’m sure you know by now. At TLC, The Shield will take on Daniel Bryan, Kane and Ryback in the first ever six-man TLC match that will be decided by pin-fall or submission.
On a large scale, we have seen what the likes of Kane, Bryan and Ryback can give us. They are solid competitors that have been able to provide quality PPV matches in recent memory.
Regardless of whether you’re familiar with The Shield’s work in NXT or on the independent wrestling scene, we have not had to opportunity to see them compete on the grand scale of WWE PPV yet.
The stage is set for them to show the world exactly what they’re made of. They have the opportunity to create a first impression on a vast majority of the WWE Universe that have never seen them compete inside a ring.
With tables, ladders and chairs at their disposal, expect members of The Shield to incorporate scenarios inside the ring that we have never seen before. The innovation that can come from this match could be groundbreaking for WWE.
In the past, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have had encounters with Daniel Bryan on the independent wrestling scene.
Seth Rollins (as Tyler Black) had many intense encounters with Daniel Bryan in Ring of Honor throughout the years. Feel free to head over to www.ROHWrestling.com to inquire on how you can watch those matches.
Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan had one high profile encounter on the independent wrestling scene when Bryan was briefly let go from WWE in the summer of 2010 during the Nexus angle. They competed in Dragon Gate USA and put on one hell of a contest.
With the experience of working together in the past, expect Daniel Bryan to do whatever he can to make these three look great at TLC.
The wild-card in The Shield for me is Roman (Don’t Call Me Luther) Reigns. Personally, I have never seen him compete, but I am familiar with his heritage in professional wrestling. I believe he is the wild card because many still don’t know what to expect from him. While Ambrose and Rollins may have the bigger fan base, I believe that Reigns has the look and size to be a main event player for many years to come…even without seeing him compete!
The fact of the matter is, The Shield will benefit from the injury to CM Punk at WWE TLC 2012, period. They don’t have to risk having their debut match on Raw in a situation where a large fan base may not be watching.
The stage belongs to The Shield and it is up to them to get the job done. With help from Daniel Bryan, Kane and Ryback, The Shield will shine at WWE TLC 2012.
This is the opportunity of a lifetime for the members of The Shield.
